The nurses of Community Hospital of Huntington Park began Nurses Week a bit early when a cheerful team from SoCal Helpful Honda descended upon the hospital May 5 just before sunrise.
Known for doing good deeds in the community, the SoCal Helpful Honda team greeted nurses leaving the night shift with the gift of gas cards to pay for their next tank of gasoline. Nurses who were arriving for the day shift enjoyed having their cars washed while they reported for work.
According to Chief Nursing Officer Colleen Bauer, the special surprise was well received.
“The Helpful Honda team showed up at 5:30 a.m. with a smile on their faces, despite drizzling rain,” Bauer shared. “The rain subsided by 6:30 a.m. and the car washes began. Our night nurses received $25 gift cards and swag from Honda. It was a really fun surprise for our wonderful nurses.”
